Jon Bjornsson

Jon Bjornsson

CEO

Jon brings extensive experience in business management and transformation projects both in Iceland and Scandinavia. Most recently, Jon served as the CEO of Origo hf., and he has previously held CEO positions at Festi and Kronan, Orf Genetics, Magasin du Nord, and Hagar. Jon is also a board member of Boozt.com, Origo Solutions, and Dropp. Furthermore, he has been a board member of Artasan, one of Veritas' companies, since 2023.

Mr. Steinsson has decades of experience in finance and operations. He joined Vistor in 2007 and later Veritas in 2008. He is responsible for Veritas‘ finances, fixed assets and real estate. Previously, from 1997 to 2006, he was Financial Manager at Asbjorn Olafsson ehf., an import and wholesale company in Iceland, and he held the position of General Manager at the Icelandic Youth Hostel Association from 1992 to 1997. Mr. Steinsson holds a Cand.Oecon. degree, with Finance as a major degree, from the University of Iceland.

Pétur Veigar Pétursson

Director of Human Resources and Internal Services

Mr. Petursson joined Veritas in 2016 and managed the implementation of Lean management within Veritas and subsidiaries. Previously he worked as a BI and training manager at Rio Tinto (ISAL). Mr. Petursson holds a B.Sc. degree from The Iceland University of Education and a M.Sc. degree in HRM from University of Iceland.

Arnar Þórðarson

General Manager - Vistor

Mr. Thordarson started as General Manager of Vistor at the end of 2020. He holds a M.Sc. degree in Brand and Communications Management from Copenhagen Business School and a bachelor‘s degree in Economics from Auburn Montgomery. Prior to his role as General Manager Mr. Thordarson was Marketing Manager at Vistor since 2018 and prior to that he worked at Novo Nordisk, both as Global Product Manager and Brand Manager in the headquarters, as well as in German and Danish subsidiaries of the company.

General Manager - Artasan

Prior to taking on the position of Artasan’s General Manager, Mr. Gudmundsson was Marketing Manager of OTC medicine at Artasan. He has previously worked as a consultant at Accenture in London, England and as a Marketing Representative for Europe and Asia at ARRI in London, England. Mr. Gudmundsson sits on the board of directors of Federation of Trade & Services and Stoð hf.

Mr. Gudmundsson holds an MBA degree and a BSc in international marketing from Reykjavik University.

General Manager - Distica

Mrs. Atladottir took over as General Manager in May 2020.

Mrs. Atladottir has a AMP, advanced management degree from IESE, Barcelona Business School, master’s degree in business administration and strategic management, diploma in human resources management, diploma in project management and leadership, B.Ed degree and pharmacy technician degree. Previously she worked as a director in customer service and supply chain management at Coca-Cola European Partners, marketing manager at Vistor, warehouse manager at Distica, project manager in customer service at Icelandair, and project manager in development at Actavis Group. Mrs. Atladóttir is a board member at GS1, Alzheimer’s association and the Logistic Union of Iceland.

Sigtryggur Hilmarsson

General Manager - MEDOR

Mr. Hilmarsson started as General Manager at MEDOR in 2011 after 5 years as the General Manager of Vistor‘s medical division and 1 year as the director of business development at the same company. Prior to joining the Veritas group of companies, he worked as the marketing director at Radiometer America Inc. in Cleveland, USA, as an international product manager at Radiometer Medical in Copenhagen, Denmark, and as a pharmacokineticist/analyst at Pharmacia in Helsinborg, Sweden.

Mr. Hilmarsson holds an MBA degree from Erasmus University, Rotterdam School of Management (1996), a Master of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iceland (1993) and has finished an Executive Management Program from Columbia Business School in New York (2001).

Mr. Hilmarsson is the Chairman of the Board at ORF Genetics and sits on the Board of directors at Stoð.

Þóranna Jónsdóttir

Thoranna has recently worked as independent management consultant, e.g. for Alvotech, Marel and several public institutions. She has served in various positions at Reykjavik University, served as dean of the Department of Business from 2013-2016 and prior to that as senior executive director of strategy and operations. Thoranna served as Business Development Officer at the sister companies Veritas and Vistor in 2005-2008, she was the first General Manager of Artasan and one of the founders of Audur Capital. Thoranna has extensive experience of board membership, she is Chairman of the Board of Landsbref, a member of the board of Veritas since 2018 and prior to that, among others, served on the boards of, Krónan, Íslandsbanki and Lyfja. Thoranna holds a doctorate in business from Cranfield University, an MBA degree from IESE in Barcelona and a master´s degree in pharmaceuticals.

Chairman of the Board

Mr. Jonsson is the Chairman and main owner of Veritas, the parent company of Vistor, Distica, Artasan, MEDOR and Stod. The group is the leading supplier and service provider to the healthcare sector in Iceland. Mr. Jonsson has extensive international management experience in various industries. He was the CEO of Veritas and previously Vistor from 2002-2013. Prior to founding Veritas in 2002, he was the CEO of Northern Lights Communications (now 365 media), Iceland’s largest media and entertainment group. He has also worked for Cargill Inc. in the USA and as a Management Consultant for McKinsey and Company in Sweden. Mr. Jonsson has served as a board member of various companies and was Chairman of the Board of the Iceland Chamber of Commerce from 2012-2016. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Macalester College and an MBA degree from Harvard Business School.

Thoranna Jonsdottir is a management consultant with her own company Delta Consulting. She is also an Assistant Professor at Reykjavik University where she previously served as Dean of the Business School and as Senior Executive Director of Strategy and Operations. She was VP of Business Development at Audur Capital, Veritas and Vistor, and the first GM of Artasan. Thoranna has extensive experience of executive consulting, particularly change management, strategy and corporate governance.  She is currently the Chairman of the Board of Landsbref and has served on various corporate boards including Festi, Krónan, Íslandsbanki and Lyfja.  Thoranna holds a doctorate in business from Cranfield University, an MBA degree from IESE in Barcelona and a master’s degree in pharmaceuticals.

Mr. Arnarson is CEO of Landsvirkjun, Iceland’s state-owned energy company. He has extensive experience in international management and has served on the boards of various companies and industry associations. Mr. Arnarson served as the caretaker CEO of Sjóvá (an insurance company) and lead the reorganization of the company in 2009. He was CEO of Marel Food Systems from 1999-2009 and prior to that held various other positions within the company from 1985-1999.
Mr. Arnarson holds a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Iceland and a Ph.D. degree in Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. He has also attended various seminars at INSEAD and Harvard Business School.
